Adios 2010, Bonjour 2011

It's been an interesting 2010. A year that was (clearly, if you followed my blog) filled with personal photographic adventures. In January of 2010 I travelled down to my mother land, Guatemala, with three amazing girls who happen to be my friends. Stephanie Bassos was the first person I invited, then it became a group thing with Kelly Jung and Gina Cella. What an adventure that was. The four of us bonded throughout the trip and stay very close in touch since. Stephanie was a big influence, support and motivation throughout my 52 self-portrait project, which is why there's no doubt I'd have no one else write the foreword for my recently published book, In-Between Days. Stephanie is one of my best friends. And I'm so lucky to have her in my life (and lives in the same city as me).

During the spring I went through some hardware malfunctions. Important lesson learned: ALWAYS back up.

I also went back to letting someone photograph me, whom I had the pleasure of working with in the past during my young days of modeling. I was past of a series called "cry adults" by Robert Randall. Bob also would throw some advice here and there. He was right, life is grand.
In April, I met talented and super energetic Mike Hedge and was part of his jumping book. Mike and I, also collaborate on a project called Halves on Flickr. We made vegan cupcakes, and he spent the night in my couch, here in Chicago.

I also had the pleasure of working with some great new photographers, as well as went back to work with Picture-Day as a photographer. I got offered a position as a lead photographer for Studio 1147.

In 2011, Jay and I will travel to Guatemala.
