A blast from the Past

La Gonave Island in Haiti

Excuse the Quality of these photos but they're old and scans of prints since I can't find the film. Not like it would make a difference anyway...I don't have a film scanner :(

The aesthetic of finding yourself in slow working days is the time that you finally have for catching up on your own life. To stop and think of your life and the next step you will be taking. The free time allows you to do fun things like reorganizing your bedroom and getting rid of cluttering materials. One of my favorite things was stumbling upon old photographs (prints and slides). I wish I had a film scanner so badly. I didn't realize that I had gems of slide film galore! I really really want and need to scan them. I am going to look for a Nikon scanner on ebay.

Anyway, when I was younger... early teen years, I was a Christian. Yes, I know... I've changed so much. I was also very involved in activities at church that helped society, such as missions. I traveled a lot since I was 10 and my passion to improve people's lives hasn't and will never cease. This is how I discovered that documentary photography was my mission in life. I always had a camera and liked documenting my experiences, but I didn't even know that there was a term for this early love of mine at the time, not until I kept being told in Art classes that I was talented, not until a photographer told me that I had an eye for documentary photography. I was only 16 when I showed him these photos. I almost forgot about them.
