A few weeks ago, one of my closest friends (Idil, in the picture to my left) and I decided that we wanted to go camping during Labor Day weekend. Idil is predominantly a city girl, who also lives in the heart of the Golden Coast area in downtown Chicago. As for me, I kind of fit in everywhere. I live in the residential hood (Logan Square northwest area). I grew up not far from rain forests in Guatemala, and hiking/climbing mountains was part of something my brothers and I did with my grandfather growing up. I love nature as much as I love the city life, unfortunately with both my demanding working and social life, I never get to get out the city as much.
Sadly we didn't plan far enough in advanced, and we couldn't find a cool spot to do some camping. Also, Idil's friend from Turkey was visiting and so we decided to keep it touristy. We went to Lake Geneva for a day, not exactly the outdoorsy I was hoping for but it was still nice. I made some new friends, enjoyed live music, and my good friend and I continued to make fun cute pictures, as it appears to be one of our mantras when we hang out. This is one of us with our feet in the water.
